On the day before marking the 60-year anniversary of the catastrophic Skopje earthquake, the Institute held a closing ceremony as part of the series of events IZIIS for Skopje.
The President of the Republic of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski, the Minister for Local Self-Government Risto Penov, the Mayor of Skopje Danela Arsovska, The Rector of UKIM Prof. Dr. Nikola Jankulovski, EU Ambassador David Geer, UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of North Macedonia Armen Grigoryan, prof. dr. Vlatko Sheshov, as well as the president of the World Association and the vice president of the European Association for Earthquake Engineering, addressed the public.
Amongst the eminent guests were professors and former directors of the Institute, that through dedication and scientific research work in earthquake engineering gave enormous contributions to the development and work of IZIIS.
During the panel discussion, organized as part of the event, they evoked special moments and memories that reminded us all that in the 58-year existence of the Institute, many generations selflessly dedicated their scientific careers to the development and advance of earthquake engineering and engineering seismology.
