MSc Goran Chapragoski, grad. civil eng. is currently working as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology – IZIIS, Skopje, R. N. Macedonia in the department of Natural and Technological Hazard and Ecology. His research field of interest includes processing and analyzing of strong motion data records, definition of seismic design parameters, structural control and health monitoring based on the recorded acceleration data, as well as strengthening of existing structures using FRP materials. He started his bachelor studies in the academic year 2008/09 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Skopje (module: structural engineering) and graduated in September 2012. He continued his studies doing master program at IZIIS-UKIM, in the academic year 2012/13. During his studies (September 2013-February 2014) he has successfully completed a one-semester Erasmus+ exchange at the University Federico II in Naples, Italy. He earned a MSc degree in Earthquake Engineering in February 2016 after successfully passing the exams with an average grade of 9.8/10 and defending his master thesis titled as “Repair and strengthening of existing buildings using innovative building materials”. From October 2016 he is enrolled in PhD studies at IZIIS. He started his professional work engagement in IZIIS in 2016 along with the enrolment in the master program, first as a Young Researcher, and now, from December 2019, as a Research Assistant. During his work engagement in IZIIS, he has taken a part in several scientific-research projects noteworthy among which are the Bilateral scientific project between the R. Macedonia and People’s Republic of China (2018-2019): Study on Supporting Structures for Earthquake Emergency Rescue, as well as Quasi-static experimental investigations of reinforced concrete columns using FRP materials (2019). He is actively involved in the professional applicative activities of IZIIS, as well as in the work of professional commission team for issuing documents for projected and performed degree of mechanical resistance, stability, and seismic protection of buildings in the Republic of North Macedonia. He participated in the production of original instructional materials for the control of project documentation done by application of the Eurocodes. He has published as author or co-author multiple papers in the field of earthquake engineering, in journals with impact factor, as well as conference proceedings with an international editorial board. Has participated in few seminars, professional trainings, and schools, like: Eurocodes Balkan Summer School (July 2021), organized by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), Bauhaus Summer School (04th -16th August)-Forecast Engineering: From past design to future decisions, Weimar, Germany-Attended course: Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Engineering Design, as well as Split summer school (31st August -4th September 2020)-Attended course: BIM for structural design. He is skilled in doing technical drawings, as well as performing static and dynamic analysis on reinforced concrete and steel structures (buildings and engineering structures) in different software packages.
