Our educational program continues with the students from “Josip Broz Tito” High School. On our educational visit, we successfully held the fourth interactive workshop under the motto “IZIIS for Skopje”. The occasion for our visit was marking 60 years since the Skopje earthquake, and our objective was increasing awareness of protection against earthquakes among the young population.
The students of “Josip Broz Tito” High School actively participated in the workshop and thus enriched their knowledge of earthquakes, as natural phenomena, and their effect on people and structures.
Through visual and practical presentations of models of structures, the students learned about the general principles of the construction of seismically resistant buildings. With this, we instigated their interest in the STEM concept (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and inspired some of the students to focus on these fields.
