Research Assistant Trajche Zafirov, MSc is Assistant in the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (IZIIS), “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University Skopje, Republic of N. Macedonia and is part of the Engineering Structures and Software department. He started his bachelor studies in the academic year 2010/11 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Skopje (module: structural engineering) and graduated in December 2014 with an average grade of 9.02/10. During his studies he has been awarded three times as one of the best students in the generation. He continued his studies doing master program at IZIIS Skopje, starting February 2015. During his studies he has completed a one-semester Erasmus+ exchange in Napoli, Italy. He earned a MSc degree in Earthquake Engineering in May 2018 after successfully passing the exams with an average grade of 10/10 and defending his master thesis titled as “Application of Passive Energy Dissipating Systems in Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures”. From October 2018, he is enrolled in the School of Doctoral Studies of IZIIS, exploring the – seismic analysis of various types of upgrades. During his work engagement in IZIIS he actively participates in the realization of several scientific research and applicative projects, of which the European DG-ECHO projects can be highlighted as more important: INFRANAT-Increased Resilience of Critical Infrastructure to Natural and Human-Induced Hazards ( 2018-2019) and L2BR-Learn to be Resilient (2021-2022). It is also part of the team for issuing opinions on the projected degree of mechanical resistance, stability and seismic protection of buildings on the territory of the Republic of N. Macedonia. He has published as an author or co-author several papers in the field of earthquake engineering, one in journals. During the work engagement he attended courses and schools, such as: Summer School – Bauhaus 2018, organized by the University of Weimar, Germany and Eurocodes Balkan Summer School (2021), organized by the European Commission JRC. He is trained in making static and dynamic analysis of structures (buildings and engineering structures) in various software packages.
