In the Laboratory for Dynamics of Soil and Foundation, scientific and applicative investigations in the field of dynamics of soil have continuously been carried out. Presently, the following equipment can be found in this laboratory:
Characteristics: Type: AUTOTRIAX2, possibility for static and dynamic testing, cyclic loading with shear force of ±5kN to 25kN, cyclic load with frequency capacity of 0 – 70 Hz, compatibility with ASTM and BS standards. Proportions of cylindrical specimens: diameter 70 mm, height 140 mm.
Characteristics: Bender elements allow you to measure the maximum shear modulus (Gmax) of soil samples with shear levels of about 0.001% using Vp and Vs waves. Gmax is a key parameter in low-strain dynamic analysis used to predict soil behaviour or soil structure interaction during earthquakes, explosion or machine and traffic vibrations. (Read more…)
Characteristics: possibility for definition of dynamic characteristics of different soil materials and liquefaction potential of sands. Grain size of soil material: up to 2 mm. Proportions of cylindrical specimens: diameter 61 mm, height 2 x 13 to 15 mm.
Characteristics: possibility for real simulation of dynamic behavior of soil. Proportions: 2.0 x 1.0 x 1.5 m, made of aluminum material with steel base. The number of steel rings is 16 with weight of 36 kg. Total weight of the empty container is 1553 kg.
Characteristics: Type: AKULA -9000C, possibility for definition of soil layers. The measurements are performed with different antennas, with frequency of 65 MHz GEKKO-60 for greater depths (30 – 50 m), frequency of 307 MHz GCB-300 (up to 8 m) and frequency of 1000 MHz GCB-1000 (up to 1.5 m).
GCB 2000 antenna with area of application in concrete inspection, ice thickness measurements, snow measurements, low speed road and bridge assessment surveys, forensics and more.
